To join (new members)

Welcome! We’re delighted you want to join us and become part of our great Club. If you wish, prior to deciding to join us, you are most welcome to drop-in and chat with us. We may be able to offer advice and guidance. Good times to visit are Sundays, either lunchtime or after sailing at around 4.00pm. The Club is also regularly active on Saturdays and Thursday afternoons.

What do members get?
  1. Access to the site to launch and sail on the lake at any daylight time within the sailing season. There is free car-parking.
  2. Access to the clubhouse and changing-rooms with their free showers at any time during the sailing season namely mid-March to the end of November.
  3. Option to berth boats on site during the sailing season.
  4. Opportunity to take part in Club events namely racing, training, recreational sailing and social events.
  5. Opportunity for members who have trained to a certain level to use Club sailing boats in appropriate conditions and with safety-cover.
  6. Opportunity to be part of our sailing community both real and online via WhatsApp.
  7. Access for a limited number of members' guests, individually up to three times a year. Guests are the member’s responsibility and must be signed-in.

A note about inclusivity

We welcome members, guests and visitors of all ethnicities, ages, genders and sexual-preference, and physical and mental ability. With respect to physical and mental disability, we are only limited by the nature of our sport, the weather conditions of the day, our site facilities, training-boats and equipment.  Our RYA-recognised Training Centre (RTC) instructors are 'Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)'  approved.

How to join

Annual membership is for the calendar-year of application. Our active sailing year begins in mid-March and ends in late November. We do not offer partial refunds when the site or lake cannot be used because of natural circumstances.

  1. Apply by completing the on-line application form. This goes into a system called Membermojo that is used by many sports clubs.
  2. You will receive confirmation of receipt and further instructions by email.
  3. Sign back into membermojo.co.uk using your email address and then the link sent to that address to complete or amend your application.
  4. Pay your membership and, when appropriate, berthing fee(s). Payment will be confirmed.
  5. On receipt of payment gate, changing room and club house codes will be emailed to you as well as your membership number.

Existing members should receive an email inviting them to re-join in late February

Mucking-in running the Club is part of the deal

Our Club is entirely member-driven: we have no employed staff. This means managing our activities is carried out entirely by members volunteering to help. It's not onerous: at least 2 days a year helping in a safety boat or running a race isn't too much to ask. And doing so should improve your powerboat handling skills or knowledge of running races.

Volunteering is managed through a standard, well-known club volunteering Website called 'DutyMan'. The link is at the bottom of every page on this website: a black rectangle with the word 'Dutyman'. If you have any questions please contact a committee member.

Our Membership Categories

These are formulated to reflect today’s diversity with respect to families, personal partnerships and generational relationships.

Full Membership → £170
This covers a sailing adult, one non-sailing adult, and all their children or wards aged 18 or under. Also any of their children or wards who are still in full-time education up to the age of 25 on the 1st January of the sailing season and in the same family or household provided they are also listed on the application form. This membership category is necessary to be eligible for training events, and to hire Club boats.

Additional Sailing Adult → £55
This covers another adult in the same family or household as the Full Member who wishes to take part in sailing or training events. More than one ' Additional Sailing Adult' membership is allowed.

Additional Sailing Child → £28
This covers another child aged 18 or under on 1st January of the sailing season and is in the same family but not in the same household of a Full Member such as a grandchild, . More than one 'Additional Sailing Child' membership within a family is permitted. N.B. parents of this child must join as non-sailing/social members if they also wish to attend the club.

Student Membership → £55
A student is a person between the ages of 18 and 25 on the 1st of January of the sailing season who is in full-time education, an apprenticeship or other full-time training. It doesn't matter if the student still lives in the family home or independently. Student Members have the same rights and responsibilities as a Full Member.

Non-sailing / Social Membership → £28
Membership for an adult who does not sail or windsurf. A non-sailing member may undertake 'on the water' duties if they so wish.

For free membership under the above rules the lead (main) member must include them as 'linked members' within the Membermojo system. You may log in using your email address and amend your own personal record if need be.

If you're not sure, please contact:  membership@llangorsesailing.club

Berthing

A seasonal berth for dinghies kept at the sailing club costs £50. You will be allocated a marked 'slot' for the season and a sticker with your slot and membership number will be provided

Trailers or road-bases which are not left under a berthed boat may be parked on-site separately. The Club charges an annual parking fee of £25 for this convenience. These should be parked in the separate trailer space allocated to you. We ask that trailers and road-bases are clearly identified and that they are secured with a tow-hitch lock rather than a wheel-lock so that they can be readily moved aside for grass-cutting etc.

Over Winter Boat Storage

Sailing and all other activities on the club site comes to an end in mid to late November. We recommence in mid-March. Often the site floods so members must remove their boats at the end of season to prevent loss or damage. But there is limited space to store some members' boats in one of the Club's buildings. Since there is a high demand these spaces must be booked in advance and there is a modest storage fee, presently £50
