To join (new members)
Welcome! We’re delighted you want to join and become part of our great Club! If you wish, prior to joining, you are welcome to drop-in to the Club and chat with us - we may be able to offer advice and guidance. Good times to visit are Sunday (around lunchtime) – or after sailing at around 4.00pm. The Club is regularly active on Saturdays and on Thursday afternoons.
What do members get?
- Access to the site to launch and sail on the lake at any time within the sailing season. The site includes free car-parking.
- Access to the clubhouse and changing-rooms (including free-of-charge showers) at any time within the sailing season.
- Access to berth boats on site during the sailing season.
- Opportunity to take part in Club events, racing, training, recreational sailing and social events.
- Opportunity for members having trained to a certain level – to use Club sailing boats in appropriate conditions and with safety-cover
- Opportunity to be part of our sailing community – real and online.
- Access for a limited number of members’ guests, individually up to three times per year. Guests are members’ responsibility and must be signed-in.
A note about inclusivity
We welcome members, guests and visitors of all ethnicities, ages, genders and sexual-preference, and physical and mental ability. With respect to physical and mental disability, we are only limited by the nature of our sport and the meteorological conditions of the day, our site, facilities, training-boats and equipment. All our RYA Recognised Training Centre (RTC) instructors are Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) approved.

Mucking-in running the Club is part of the deal
Our Club is entirely member-driven: we have no employed staff. This means managing our activities is carried out entirely using membership volunteering. It's not onerous: a couple of days a year helping us in a safety boat or running races isn't much to ask for - and doing so can improve all our powerboat handling skills or knowledge of running races.
Our volunteering is managed through a standard and well-known club volunteering website called DutyMan. Find the link at the bottom of every page on this website: a black rectangle with the word "Dutyman." If you have any questions, please do contact a member of the Committee.
Our Membership Categories
These are formulated reflecting today’s diversity with respect to families, personal partnerships and relationships between generations.
Full Membership → £165
This covers a sailing adult, as well as one non-sailing adult together with all their children or wards of age eighteen years or under, plus any of their children or wards still in full-time education up to age twenty-five on the 1st of January of the sailing season, in the same family or household, providing they are listed on the form. This category of membership is required to take part in training events or to hire boats.
Additional Sailing Adult → £55
This covers another adult in the same family or household as the Full Member, who wishes to take part in sailing or training events. More than one Additional Sailing Adult membership is permitted.
Additional Sailing Child → £28
This covers another child, aged eighteen years or under on 1st January of the sailing season, in the same family but not in the same household, such as a grandchild, of a Full Member. More than one Additional Sailing Child membership within a family is permitted. N.B. parents of this child must join as non-sailing/social members if they also wish to attend the club
Student Membership → £55
A student is a person between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five years on the 1st of January of the sailing season, who is in full-time education, apprenticeship or full-time training, resident in their family home or living independently. Student Members shall have the same rights and responsibilities as a Full Member.
Non-sailing / Social Membership → £28
Membership for an adult who does not sail or windsurf. A Non-sailing member is permitted to undertake 'on the water' duties.
Free membership under the rules above will need the lead (main) member to add them as linked members in the Membermojo system. Log in and amend your own record for this.
If you're not sure, please contact:
membership@llangorsesailing.club
Berthing
A berth for dinghies kept at Llangorse sailing club is £50 for the season: you'll get an allocated & marked slot for the season, and a sticker identifying the slot, linked to your membership number for the year.
Trailers - or road-bases - which are not under a berthed boat can be parked on-site separately. The Club charges an annual fee of parking £25.00. These should be parked in an allocated space which will be advised to you. We ask that trailers and road-bases should be clearly identifiable and that they should be locked (preferably with a tow-hitch lock rather than a wheel-lock – in order that they can be moved for grass-cutting, etc.).
Boat Storage (over winter)
Sailing and all other activities on the club site comes to an end in mid-to-late November, we recommence in mid-March. Often the site floods, so members must remove their boats to prevent loss or damage. There is limited space to store some members' boats in the club buildings - since there is high demand these spaces must be booked in advance, and there is a modest storage fee.
