Freya is our Junior Rep!

  • Freya Hope, LSC Junior Representative 2026

Freya Hope is stepping up to the role of Llangorse Sailing Club’s Junior Representative in 2026. An avid sailor, Freya is one of a new cohort of RYA Assistant Instructors ("AI"s) qualified within the Club’s RYA Recognised Training Centre (RTC) last year.

Freya says, “The Club's future lies in the young people who take part and, in-turn, inspire the even younger to enjoy the sport. As Junior Representative it’s my job to speak-up and represent the views and aspirations of young sailors at the Club. I’ll be looking to influence the Club’s Executive Committee, and also the Chief Instructor and Training Principal to make sure our views and creative ideas are heard.”

Freya, 17, from Talyllyn, has sailed at Llangorse with her family for over ten years. In recent years she has progressed her own sailing skills to a high level and is now looking to develop skills to become an instructor.

Commodore John Mason says, “We need to shape the club to meet the needs, expectations and desires of the increasing number of young people who sail here. Competitions, training practises, equipment and boats – and even our Club facilities - all need to be updated for future generations.”

“Young people learn best from their peers, so Freya’s (and our other young AIs’) training abilities will be invaluable,” John adds. “But Freya’s natural exuberance will complement her technical skills. She will be an inspiration to young sailors and us all!”

Young people who would like to contact Freya with ideas, comments and other feedback, are very welcome to drop us a line via this website contact facility, under the heading "Dear Freya,".
